View submission: Announcing Blocking Updates
I can no longer post comments in certain subreddits because a handful of people blocked me, even if the OP themselves didn't.
What a terrible system, that will only lead to more echo chambers because people no longer can post counter arguments against misinformation.
This has to be rolled back.

I've found that there are a bunch of trolls who drop some ridiculous shit and then block so it seems like they got the last word in.

This system is god awful & still doesn’t work. & when it does work you can’t reply on a subreddit? That’s ridiculous. I’ve blocked an ex’s account several times because it is constantly unblocking itself, but this portion isn’t even the new system issue, it’s an old one too.

Also, if you're having an argument with someone, they can apparently reply to you and then block you, preventing you from being able to reply to them (or even see their reply, if you didn't catch it in your inbox). Replying to someone and then blocking them really seems like an abuse of this "feature".

I agree, this is terrible. Someone posts bullhsit, you kindly point out it is wrong, OP blocks everyone who disagrees with his viewpoint, discussion gone and bullshit remains and sub goes down the drain.

This is exactly how it’s gone so far. People post something a little extreme or insane and you comment something challenging that view and they just block you. Now you can’t challenge anything else in the comments, and the echo chamber deepens. This is accidentally replicating the effect Facebook tries to create.

You should be able to reply to op, but the blocker blocks you from all lower levels of a comment chain below them. If user a is op, user b is a blocker, users c, d, and E participate in the thread... You can reply to a c d and E, but not b. If b replies to someone and then e replies to b, you are unable to reply to e or anyone that replies to e in that chain. You'd have to break off another chain, and b can lock you out at any time by replying to someone below you that they can see, AFAIK. They can butt into your threads and lock you out.
