View submission: Women Posting
I saw something a while back about posts in r/art I think, about how it's perceived that women who post pictures of themselves with their art are trying for attention. But turned out, posts with the artist (male or female) with their art just got more votes.

I mean- regardless of sex or what you look like- if you're a talented artist and you worked really hard on something - why wouldn't you proudly stand beside it? Why would that offend anyone? So weird to me.

I think there has been a lot of instances where pictures of women, whether intentional or not, are upvoted purely for being women. When it comes to a subject that people are serious about, having a picture of a woman comes off as attention seeking "because im a girl" type of post, and people hate that shit.
It's very unfortunately, but I can totally see why that happens and I totally disagree with it. There is a subreddit dedicated to this type of behavior, although its pretty vulgar.

I think it’s safe to say that anyone who posts pictures of their art anywhere are tying to get noticed. This is because it is the main way to get someone interested in buying whatever you’re selling. If the art sparks someone’s interest then there is a possibility of others wanting more.
