This is a small beekske...creek? That i know for my entire life. And my entire life that brown crap has been in it. Anyone know what it is? Its in limburg in a rural area. Farms are close by. No smell. Plants grow like crazy in it.

Where in Limburg? Because there are parts where there is alot of Iron on the soil/stone. In Diest alot of creeks and ponds have the same brown stuff on top and its just iron/rust

ijzeroxide! Tijd om uw primitive technologies pet op te zetten en het te proberen verwerken tot bruikbaar gereedschap!

That is a biofilm of iron-oxidizin bacteria, they feed on the iron present in the water (sometimes natural or by dissolved organic matter). That dissolved organic matter can have pollution as originator. Back in university I did experiments on those bacteria to improve water treatment.

Also occurs in Voorkempen, I used to live near a ‘beekske’ in the region that bordered our garden and it always looked like this. Thought it was just broken down leaves.

Iron/iron bacteria. Thanks to human pollution you can find lots of creeks that look like this (can also happen naturally ofcourse)

Dat spul heet modder. Je vindt het in allerlei tinten, afhankelijk van de spoorelementen erin. In dit geval zit er meer ijzer in dan gewoonlijk.

I love how the question is asked in English, yet most reply in Dutch... pretty sad how close-minded a lot of the Flemish are :/
