Anybody ever been here? Seems like the techs might work off commission given the way the pricing/treatment options are presented!

Private equity vampires have been buying up a lot of veterinary care practices and then jacking up prices. Not sure it that is the case here, but it wouldn't surprise me. Here's a story describing the issue: https://stateline.org/2024/03/29/vets-fret-as-private-equity-snaps-up-clinics-pet-care-companies/[1][2]

We stopped going because it always felt like an upsell

Yes and yes I’ve gotten frustrated about that. It seems to mainly be the techs; the vets seem to focus on the issues at hand. One time I went, a tech tried to say my cat had flea dirt and tried to sell us a preventative. the vet came in and said it definitely wasn’t flea dirt and probably dandruff.

Every time I took my cat it cost a thousand dollars. They never did figure out what was wrong with her and after 7 years I could not afford any more visits.

I’ve taken animals there for over 20 years, my parents took our family dog prior. Overall they are much more expensive and I’ve found over the years the good docs who were honest have left. Which is a red flag IMO. I’ve found after looking at previous bills that there are certain docs who seem to “recommend” more things that really weren’t needed and my bills were 300-500 more for standard visits. I brought this up to them years ago and had them note my account to not schedule them for my visits. I really only go there now for convenience and their hours. I’ve learned to always bring in my binder of previous visits to reference and I don’t hesitate to call them out when I feel I’m being taken advantage of.
For example: my three year old dog with no health issues should not need a full blood panel at that age. But if I did a blood panel and it was good with no concerns, I shouldn’t have to get another one a year later.

We went to them once and it was a whole hassle to just get a booster for our pup when we had just moved into the area June 2020. We've since set up shop with Warm&Fuzzy in county for our vet care.

I went there with my dog and they were charging us almost double for Labrella shots compared to what we were paying up in PA. We doctor shopped around and decided to go wtih Docside in Fells and they were back at the normal price. Eastern Animal i think used to be great but not its just really, really expensive.
