My favorite dish that my grandpa would make for me and my family growing up was sukiyaki. Basically a Japanese hot pot with glass noodles, strips of beef, spinach, tofu, mushrooms…the attached photo looks about right, with glass noodles instead of the udon.
Where can I get this in, like, a 30-mile radius (even a smidge more) of Baltimore? I haven’t had it in the twenty years or so since he died…

They have a dry ramen version at kajiken. definitely not exactly the same just comparing from your picture, but its super yummy either way!

Sukiyaki subs are a Baltimore classic. Idk about the soup though

There’s a place in Columbia off Dobbin Rd called Sushi King that I love going to for sukiyaki and shabu shabu, and they have much more to offer as well (I always get black sesame ice cream when I’m there). Definitely recommend if you can’t find a better place closer to the city!
