I'm just looking at page after page and I just think "Why is my life so extremely unaffected by my lack of religion?"

Awful wood chopping technique. You gotta have your feet square, shoulder width apart, swing the ax above your head and use your whole body, legs and all, to bring the ax down.

For once someone didn't make themself look like someone who's been persecuted all their life and is so much better than religious people. Kudos to you.

When you chop wood stand with your legs apart so if you swing misses your wood or block you do not hit your leg or foot.

I wouldn't bother a shirtless, axe wielding man either...

This could totally be me .. well .. minus the shirtless wood chopping.

Religion has never played a major role in my life. Sure, I went to church until about 13 but it was in one of the most liberal churches in Canada. Dad never went because he thinks religion is stupid.

My younger sister was atheist years before me. And just recently my mom told me she doesn't believe in Christianity anymore .. but thinks there's "something more".

This is the best one, because it's more likely the truest for the most of us.

You clearly don't live in the South or Midwest of the US.

Edit: I'd like to know how many of you who are in the Midwest and South and say zero fucks are given are actually openly atheist, as in many people know this about you. I'm just having a hard time believing nobody has ever given you the cold shoulder, spread gossip about you, or talked shit to you about being atheist. Serious question. Maybe I'm just unlucky, but my experiences in Iowa, Kansas, and Missouri when people find out I'm atheist have been largely negative. The same people who were my friends before finding out this one piece of info about me now act like I've sprouted another head.

Give a man an axe and set him to chopping wood, and he instantly becomes the hottest thing on the planet, damn.

He has a point, I think many atheists just overreact about their accidents with christians. As an atheist living in the Bible Belt, I can say, that so far I've met only one person who was amazing before she found out that I am an atheist and only after went batshit insane. Other ones were either douchebags who hated for non-religious reasons or did not care at all. For example, one of my best friends, who found out about my atheism after we became friends, is a christian who goes to church every sunday. He is an example of a very good person: hard-working, smarter than your average Joe. Even though he doesn't play videogames, while I am a die hard player, and that he knows that I am an atheist, he is still my best friend. He thinks that Santorum is wrong, he openly discusses with me any topics including LGBT (he thinks this is wrong, but also that all people should have their own freedom of what to do, so gay marriage should be legalized) and others. This is just how you propose yourself. If you are a bum from the street who walks into a room full of christians and says that christianity is a bs, then no shit you are will be hated. If you are an intelligent person able to keep a good discussion, then you will be respected, even among christians. And btw, when I said previous sentence, I meant normal people, not rednecks

I wonder why people won't bother a strong, half naked, man, wielding an axe and harbouring what looks like a (not-internet-related) pirate symbol on his right arm...maybe because it's sunny outside and people are happy?

I'm guessing you're american.

If so, I just want you to know that this is how the rest of the civilised world lives. Whether we're chopping wood or not.

I'm in a similar situation, but it's not common.
