Passive aggression at its finest

Edit: For those who are missing this, this is OP's way of skirting the mods removing protest posts. He is now parading around /r/atheismrebooted and /r/atheismpolicy telling people how to avoid being removed.

I think I'm finally going to leave /r/atheism. This is how my community acts when memes get taken away? If the 13 year olds want their memes fine. I'll be over at /r/TrueAtheism. Go ahead downvote it, I won't be around to care.

This was from just a few minutes ago, about 1:20 EST tuesday.

There's a legitimate news link shared by /u/Coordman at #30. In the very first minute it got 8 downvotes in the first minute despite being an interesting link. That is not normal, and it's proof that somebody (or team of somebodies) is sitting in the new queue nuking any new content immediately as it comes in.

It's rising now, but there is still some team of determined people trying to kill everything. Ironically, the censorship could now be argued to be going both ways on /r/atheism - because there's a group trying to kill any conversations not about the recent changes as well as a ban on talking about those changes.

There was an attempt to put an atheist slogan (anarchist really, no gods, no masters) on city trams in Zagreb , the capital of Croatia, few years ago. They payed for it to be up for one month.

They were up for one day before being removed for being offensive to the religious..

It's sad that I'm surprised this wasn't about /r/atheism.

putting memes in to self posts is exactly like the silencing and often execution of atheists the world over.

Hell, it's actually easier to come out as a Wiccan or Scientologist than to come out as an Atheist in some parts of Western society. When religious people see you are following a different religion, they still understand you believe, even if your beliefs are wrong. When they see an Atheist, they see an enemy and don't understand them at all. Religion will die, it must otherwise the human race cannot move on to greater things, no matter what technology we have.

As a meme, it stops my heart to think that our free speech is being limited. Now how will I speak my soul and express true advice in the form of a duck or point out how my facebook friend is a moron and laugh at him with likeminded chums?

First they came for Scumbag Steve and I did not speak out, because Scumbag Steve is a dick...

EDIT: Downvote? Why do you hate FREE SPEECH?

Our very own /r/exmormon group found that advertisers in Utah were unwilling to allow a billboard with a very tame message to Mormon doubters. It wasn't even athiest in nature. It was basically an ad to let doubting Mormons know that they weren't alone. Advertisers in Utah rejected it.

IMO, it's better to use 'gods' instead of 'God'. Capitalizing god just acknowledges their reverence, and gives them a point to argue when fighting these ads. Also, who the hell names their god, God? Or their christian child, Christian? Oh, wait.

I will just leave this here - I am a sorta Catholic -- I have never been reviled or rejected on this forum - I crack wise - I have commented on many posts. I've gotten some really great responses and some not so great. I wouldn't censor you and I think no one should. I guess I'm cranky and old enough to enjoy my time here. Thank you for being all of you. Don't accept censorship, keep talking :)

The implication, it would seem, is that Christians believe themselves to be the only good people in the world, and that no one else is permitted to act morally without their permission.

Oh come on. What emotive rhetorical nonsense. The author's petty whining and first grade reasoning aside, the First Amendment should allow atheist ads to be posted regardless of the complaints of a few pastors.

But really, write something intelligent and not petty. Otherwise the article looks as mean spirited as what it is critiquing.
