The very first planetary system ever discovered was around a pulsar. Presumably if you can do interstellar travel you can handle the radiation, although I'm sure it's pretty high.

This is true. We currently know of 16 different pulsar planets[1], with five of them even in two planet and three planet systems.

That's very interesting, although I would have to say that it was probably the first **exo**planetary system ;)
