View submission: Is sand a liquid???

Random comment but I've read about debates whether or not glass is liquid or solid. I am in the camp that it's a very slow moving liquid, this can be evidenced in some very old wavey like glass windows. But that's just my 2ยข. - I really don't know. I would say plain ole sand is a solid, but liquefaction is kind of unique scenario seen in and brought about by certain types of coastal earthquakes

Glass is an example of a glassy silicon polymer. It is an amorphous crystalline phase. So it would be classified as a solid at room temp. Molten glass is a viscoelastic fluid though.
