It all seems totally insane and impossible.

Are you having trouble understanding the wave like nature of quantum particles? Or how the double slit experiment produces an interference pattern?

I understand constructive interference and it makes sense to see light as waves. the results of the double slit experiment makes sense. But where my mind boggles is when I read that there are single photons that go through both slits, and that the spin of atoms are somehow linked to another in some unknown way and observing the spin influences what spin the atom has and it's effect on the other entangled atom.
