Apologies for the sparse information but this is all I can remember. If anyone can figure out the reference from these vague recollections I would be really grateful.
This is a thought experiment which is supposed to show that certain states of mind are unwillable even if you have good reasons to want to will them, e.g. a dictator has poisoned you and will only give you the antidote if you will the state of mind in question.
