View submission: What are the reasons millions of undocumented immigrants were allowed in the US? I don't recall ever hearing the most obvious reasons by politicians.

No they didn't. CBP reported 10 million *encounters*, which is not the same thing as the number of people who enter the country via the border. Roughly half of those 10 million were immediately turned around, some of those encounters represent the same person interacting with the system more than once, and it includes people who are asylum seekers. Not to mention that the previous administration was pretty aggressive with regards to deportation, and we ended up with roughly the same net number of undocumented individuals.
