View submission: What are the reasons millions of undocumented immigrants were allowed in the US? I don't recall ever hearing the most obvious reasons by politicians.

I haven't looked into it in detail recently, but NPR made this claim in an article from 2019. https://www.npr.org/2019/01/10/683662691/where-does-illegal-immigration-mostly-occur-heres-what-the-data-tell-us[1]. From a common sense perspective, trying to enter the US via the border with Mexico sounds absolutely miserable. Why would you do that if you could get a tourist visa and take an airplane to the city you actually want to live in.

You're using dated information to defend an bad position. (I remember a time you would call that dis/misinformation.) Common sense alone would tell you that entering via border crossing is the only way for criminals to access our country, because they would not be allowed thru security checkpoints flying or driving in.

I think it's time you considered new evidence and update your perspective. We had more than 10k crossing a day during Biden's tenure....
