Then why are the Republicans deporting all of them?

They’re not.
Don’t get me wrong, they definitely will frame it that way. You’re going to see a *lot* of naturalized citizens, undocumented immigrants, refugees, and other at-risk people get caught up in this pushback against immigrants. But they’re not going to deport all the illegal immigrants. They’re just not. ICE operations are be publicized right now and probably will pick up a lot of people, but it’s all theater. The reality is probably threefold:
1. ICE operations will be conducted in blue states and cities, particularly “sanctuary cities.” These will be all over the news and highly publicized. This will lend credence to the sentiment that blue states are harboring illegals and that the current admin is cracking down.
2. The operations will absolutely scare immigrants in the U.S. and those looking to come from abroad, deterring some (but certainly not all) from entering the country. It’s already deterred many from coming to work in the fields and other industries, as they’re worried about being raided.
3. The truth of the matter is republicans and their corporate friends *love* undocumented workers. They’re not going to raid all these businesses, nor is it even feasible to do a nationwide crackdown. What this *will* be used for is allowing the companies that hire illegals to be even more possessive and shitty to those workers. Such companies now have the threat of an unchained ICE to use against workers who step out of line or otherwise displease higher ups.
