Answer: When you make excessive barriers to doing things legally you're going to get people doing them illegally. NO administration in a hundred years has allowed undocumented immigrants. In fact Democrats have been found to do more to affect immigration than Republicans.
Since the Republicans would rather not have an actual immigration policy, all they can do is scream about people breaking the law.
Unfortunately the latest voting block for Trump was uneducated Americans, so nuances like facts escape them.

Basically it’s their golden goose for running on elections. Scream about it and blame them for everything, and never fix it.

To add some context to this: My family in Mexico were requested by one of my aunts in the USA.
That was 23 years ago. Last year, my aunt passed away and their application was canceled.
Thankfully, they have generally decent lives, and aren't desperate, but it helps you understand why other people don't bother at all with the legal process.

According to exit polls, 56% of voters without a college degree supported Trump, while 55% of college graduates voted for Harris.
I'm totally agnostic about it, but was trying to find data for your claim.
45-55 is strikingly not that distant, but you are correct still.

Decades ago workers were allowed to cross the border to work on farms and return home when the work was done. Then we created more barriers , which became problematic for them and the farm owners.

When you make excessive barriers to doing things legally you're going to get people doing them illegally . . .
Regardless of how easy or hard the process is, there would still be people coming in illegally because many, many more people are wanting to come here than we could accommodate. The US allows around 1 million people to come here legally each year. There can be valid discussions on whether that is the right amount or not. But, even if it was 5 million or 10 million per year, there are going to be more that want to come.

I’m not smart enough to know for certain that I’m right, but this is the exact conclusion I’ve come to as well. It matches the logical statistics that I could find and I’m not sure why it’s not more widely talked about.

I'd be interested in seeing your source for this.
Raw numbers of border crossings don't really tell the full story (for one, the context of COVID), but I haven't seen any data that suggests Biden curbed numbers.
We could look further back than Trump 1 but I would assume that may as well be ancient history to the average voter, particularly Republicans.

Recently, Obama deported the most followed by Biden. Trump deported the least in his first term.

"NO administration in a hundred years has allowed undocumented immigrants."
In word or in deed? The last administration said they were for a strong boarder but then did nothing to reinforce it or even properly man it. We have an additional 10+ million people who came in illegaly while doing nothing to try and change the quota for legal migrants.
I can’t comprehend the mindset that prefers to have millions of unvetted people come in.
Doesn’t it make more sense to have a really strong boarder and increase the number of legal immigrants that can come in every year?

What are these excessive barriers you're talking about? The USA has by far the highest number of immigrants in the world, somewhere close to 50 million, about 1/5th of the entire world's immigrants. It is one of the most lenient country in the world for immigration.

Nope.
When you fail to enforce the law for decades, when half the country subverts the law (“sanctuary”, drivers licenses, public benefits), you end up overwhelmed.

Up until a few days ago I would have agreed with you, but what I’m hearing in the different subreddits from immigrants, reading in the news quotes from immigrants, reading in the news quotes from Democrat politicians… they’re contradicting that very hard and I don’t understand what I’m seeing. The only explanation I can find is that people like you and me have been in an echo chamber.

Trump brought in more legal immigrants than Obama. He's also openly said he wants to increase legal immigration too whilst supporting the H1B visa's.
Lots of Republicans obviously don't but this doesn't apply to Trump currently

If that’s the case then why do liberals not express their outrage when Obama started the “kids in cages” or deported more illegal immigrants than previous administrations. You only hear of the good and none of the bad but when a republican gets in office all of a sudden it’s a terrible practice.

And lets not forget that they don't do anything about the employers. If they put actual ramifications on employers that hired undocumented immigrants then there would be no jobs or reasons for them to come.
But it's more fun to just blame the brown people.
