View submission: Sunsetting Secret Santa and Reddit Gifts
So basically you guys are going to kill off something good about the platform because it takes away resources and time? Oh let me guess, some guy from management found out that Reddit can save more money by killing it off and this post is just the justification.
Redditgifts isn't perfect, but it's a great aspect of the community and a cool tradition. Why not consider it an actual investment for the community.

I don't buy that either because the shit he said in the original post has been talked about them updating for longer than I've been on the site. It's just PR spin for "We aren't making money from this so we are shutting it down".
What we really should be concerned with is if they are shutting this down, imaging what's coming. "You must disable your ad-blocker to view this site" and "You must provide more personal information to continue using this site" or "You must link to your Twitter/Instagram/Facebook account"
