As someone who exclusively uses DMs still, what the fuck is the point of chat and why do so many people insist on messaging me there instead of DMs????

By far my most common usecase for chat is accidentally clicking the button and hoping that it won't send any kind of notification if I close it fast enough

I have people message me there for the subreddit I mod instead of using the actual method designed to contact mods. It's a pain in the ass and that's for a sub with two mods. I can't imagine how broken it is on a big sub, trying to keep track of 1000 chat messages instead of the fully visible mod contact form where every mod can see messages and responses.
