View submission: Sunsetting Secret Santa and Reddit Gifts

Suggestion:

Stop "Enhancing" the user experience.

You're making it worse.

Everyone I know of uses old.reddit.com, if they've heard of it.

Basically, all this announcement says to me is "We've decided to stop one of the good things we do, so that we have more time to shit on your cereal every morning."

I've been using Baconreader for almost a decade. For me, it is the ideal reddit experience. No in-line gifs and images I don't care to see. No custom subreddit visual noise. Perfect dark mode UI. Hasn't changed a bit in years.

I also haven't browsed reddit via desktop browser in years.

if they ever stop old.reddit that may be the day I actually quit, the new experience is so laggy on my tablet despite all this time

Inuse the redesign, but god they are making me do it with frustration.

It’s just, they add a bunch of shit that no one uses. Who uses chat? I almost automatically block people who don’t just send a pm. It’s a stupid function. We already have 10 different chat apps, and trust me: reddit won’t be the new big one. No way

Profiles I can almost understand, but still poorly executed.

The livestreams? Just kill me now… don’t even wanna go into it.

Oh god, I legit thought I was one of a small minority. The new design is *horrible* to use.

Their investors clearly want Reddit to just be Twitter but worse.

Are they gonna devote more time to making their image platform *not* absolute shit?

I just discovered I.reddit.com. I actually like it even better than old reddit.

Thanks for this! I didn't know it existed. I never liked that Reddit has been chasing the Facebook look.

It's a tough spot cause the old reddit UI is garbage and looks like something from the 90s, while the new UI actually looks good but gets stupid laggy after a certain amount of posts.

Tbh though I don't know why anyone would bother using it on their computer because it makes it way harder to share posts with people and also it's less convenient. I've just been using a 3rd party reddit app on my phone for like 4 years.

I love when people downvote you without even bothering to give a differing opinion

The vast majority of users use new reddit or the reddit apps, as far as my subreddit traffic stats show.

Nothing they do seems to actually lose them any significant number of users. And I get the idea the admins really dislike the users, so why not poke at em?

I genuinely like New Reddit more and even in my sub stats I see at least 90% of the users on new reddit rather than old.reddit, so it seems the majority. May I ask why do you like it more?

Personally I find old reddit very chaotic, labyrinthic and almost impossible to navigate, but I see you think the opposite. How? Not judging, just genuinely curious
