What, if anything will be done about harassment from moderators and/or moderators abusing their power? I cant even find a good reliable way to report them, instead they are able to run rampant and make rules up on the fly and throw around bans and mutes like candy.

Reddit has steadfastly refused to even address the question of mod abuse of bans. And I'm not talking about this thread. I'm talking years and years. Never a single comment from any admin anywhere about why it ever made sense to give a sub like the donald unlimited bans in the first place.
IF they gave the sub "every opportunity" because of its "unique status" as a political subreddit then WHY didn't they also protect the free speech of users there as well? Why was the donald allowed to ban, and ban and ban until it was nothing but a troll echo chamber?
They won't touch this question and i don't know why. I've asked it many times of many different admins over and over for many years and I've seen others ask about it as well. They will not touch it. For some reason unlimited bans is seen as a topic that cannot be discussed.
My personal case was I was permanently banned from the Donald for asking why, if he was supposed to drain the swamp, was his cabinet like a wish list from corporations. That's a reasonable question. But I was banned anyway, for life, with no recourse other than to circumvent the site rules and make a new account to ask it again.
THATS how you create a toxic echo chamber. It's frustrating admins won't even think about their role in creating the donald.

Users like LRLOURPRESIDENT literally run 10s of subs with alts posing as wounded Bernie supporters but with the express intention of undermining the upcoming election by advocating not voting. They try to push the idea that for progressives 4 more years of Trump is a good thing because it will teach the DNC a lesson. Fuck that user and their subs.

Don’t forget that they can mute you for 72 hours regardless of context.

I got banned from r/funny with literally no explanation but it was, curiously, right after I dealt with an extremely abrasive and elaborate troll in my DMs, and I also got banned from r/OldSchoolCool because I didn’t realize the wholesome pic somebody posted of their grandparents was actually of a Nazi soldier (he had tiny insignia on his hat or something but I exclusively use Reddit on mobile and didn’t see it). I then explained that I hadn’t realized it was a Nazi soldier *and still got banned*. Both times I tried to reach out and clarify and got nothing but silence. I’m still salty about it.

They don't care about mod abuse. I sent them public comments from a multi-sub powermod where they were boasting about being deliberately unprofessional. No response, not even a boilerplate "thanks for your report" message.

Or the power mods that run so many of the top subreddits?

exactly. we need a way for users to recall mods (or at least force admins to intervene)

The mods are a minority, if you attack them now it's hate speech according to reddit

The main mods are careful enough not to upset reddit's shareholders.

I’d like to know this too. I have submitted and escalated a complaint about a moderator that has been complained about multiple times and Reddit seems to not care at all and doesn’t respond.

So much of the vitriol on Reddit is fueled by inept and malicious moderators.

Some serious power trippers. If it’s a niche sub I don’t really mind, but larger subs for your city etc it’s pretty messed up.

r/soccer mods literally have alt accounts where they delete a post that someone made and then post it on their alt account. There are several other issues there as well. Generally a pro British attitude where things that make England look bad are removed, or posts about big English clubs.
Massive amounts of racism towards Hispanics, Indians, and Asians are allowed there as well.
Also they just ban people for “trolling” and then mute the person til they give up. They won’t answer you or even give an example of what you were banned for.
I’m sure several of these losers are also mods at other large subs.

It would appear to me based on some of Reddits policies that censorship is okay and as always mods are given a lot of leeway here.
I’m not one to complain about being PC but I’ve had to quit a sub because a mod tool censorship too far. Myself and many other posters could hardly post in our own voice without being thought policed.
It’s an awful problem and again I think most mods work really hard but I definitely take issue when I’m trying to be really PC and still managed to have most my posts deleted.

Nothing. Mods can affectively shut down the website to make Reddit bend to their political whims. A month back, a list of powermods and the respective subs they control in common made rounds on the front page. Said image was banned after some time under pretense of the moderators feeling personally harassed.

Can't post to /r/blackpeopletwitter unless you prove you're black. Pretty obviously and openly racist. Nothing will be done though. Reddit it's cool with hate as long as it's against the right groups. Reddit is the new Tumblr

This is true, I got banned from a sub for commenting that I saw a post but couldn’t find it. Come to find out it was a banned post. The mod justified his ban by saying I was promoting banned content

Welcome to the "new" Reddit, buddy. Its no longer the nerd nice it once was. Now everything is controlled and agendas are obviously abound. Its all propaganda at this point.

This is what I’d like to see. Some mods really abuse their power. There should be some sort of tribunal with a higher authority that is not associated with subreddits.
