View submission: Reddit’s 2017 transparency report and suspect account findings
What is stopping these guys from doing this again? Like can't they just make 944 new accounts?

The same techniques we use looking backwards, we will continue to use into the future. Preventing the manipulation of Reddit, political or otherwise, has always been a priority for us, and we'll continue to invest here.
One thing to note is that the majority of users in this list and their posts were caught and banned by moderators, so improving tools for community moderation will also be an ongoing investment.

Fix the U.S. election system[1] and the electoral college so that it's not possible to only have to convince like 40,000 people in Wisconsin to vote for Trump in order to win.
Let's not forget Trump lost the popular vote. Only 23% of Americans voted for him. The fault is our politicians and their complete refusal to modernize our flawed and insecure election systems.

They're absolutely going to do something like this again, sure. But these kinds of social media shenanigans are the most effective when people aren't aware of them, and thus not watching out for them. With all lies and con-jobs, the easiest target is always someone who has no idea they could be a target.

They are doing it again and they're being a lot more sophisticated about it. Funding for the IRA hasn't stopped. Their jobs haven't ended. They're just better at it now.

Do you realize how little influence 1,000 accounts have on this entire website? Especially when the top karma account are only topping out at 10,000? Maybe focus on something that actually matters.
