I can't help but notice that the number of motorbikes on the streets of Lusaka has been steadily increasing over the past couple of years. I'm not too sure what to think about it but I think Lusaka will slowly lose it's charm and become like every other generic African city (looking at you Lagos). What are your thoughts about this?

Lusaka has little charm tbh. I think increasing greenery, walkability, public transport and infrastructure, cultural and economic output and modern vernacular architecture is more important in making a city charming.

Motorcycle are increasing because they are fuel efficient and fuel prices are higher.

Lost its charm when the ntembas and shacks arrived... Theres wheelbarrows that get priority over vehicles on Lusaka road.. Now the bike riders with no licenses or sense have ruined the little joy there was on the roads.

As someone in the service industry. We actually need more bikes. They are a very convenient way of transporting goods locally. The more you see the more commerce happening.

It might just be gaining traction in Lusaka, but motorbikes are slowly becoming the norm in most towns in Zambia. While a few cities have the luxury of yango and other services, the go to for most people is bikes. Even moreso if they want to access places inaccessible by cars. Otherwise, those bikes wouldn't be in Lusaka if there was no market for them.

Travel outside Lusaka & the copperbelt then you'll realize that in Lusaka motorbikes are now the preferred, cheapest & fastest mode of transport within a town. Visit Chipata, Mansa, Solwezi, Nakonde, Kasama etc They just need to work on safety & licensing

Are you going to reduce the price of fuel? People need to move.

But please motorcyclists... Please be careful when lane splitting and left side overtaking. We don't want to injure you... but I think the metal on my car is harder than you.

Most bikes are just used for delivery, you cant register a motor bike in Lusaka as a PSV

If it is a solution to beat traffic, get to where you're going quicker and cheaper - considering the roads are limited - I am all for it. The downside is most of their disporderliness, if the riders can have some semblance of order it would be special
