Apparently people don't know what that is.
It's Apple Classroom, the app teachers use to spy on their students' screens. I know the school pays for the device, but having this thing on conveys the message that students cannot be trusted to do their work and have to be heavily supervised all the time.

Oh yeah, in my school it's also always "Ipads flat on the table so we see everything you're doing!" Nvm that some people write better at an angle or prefer ro keep their work in progress more private till it's finished cause they're insecure... at least they seem to have largely stopped using classroom.

Can't say anything other thab: Apple, you've outdone yourself! You say idevices are impervious to malware yet you even make malware for idevices !?
A little anecdote: this was shown by an English teacher at secondary school and even shown to be used for locking iPads on a whim. This function however wasn't used in our school, though I don't know about anyone else.
