I got accepted but I applied as a political science major. I actually want to major in finance. I love this school but I would hate it if I wasn’t able to transfer into finance. How hard is it to switch my major from polisci to finance? Is it worth going to VT if this is my situation? Will switching majors give me more coursework and stress in the future? Will it delay my expected graduation?

Is getting waitlisted basically getting rejected especially with how many people applied this year? I don’t know how to feel about it

If you get an academic scholarship do they tell you at the time you get accepted or does that come later. Our son was accepted to VT Friday, but nothing about academic scholarship. He also got into LSU & Oklahoma and days later he got academic scholarships seperate from his acceptance letter from both LSU & Ok.

Accepted to business school. Considering University of Tennessee as well. Curious to hear anyone’s thoughts on which business program is better

The cost of this school is crazy. I’m in the engineering college but the cost is going to end up at 45k unless i get some sort of merit-based aid. Which I know isn’t a big thing at this school. It’s unfortunate but it’s going to force me to pick the other Virginia school I got into because they say it’ll only cost 35k (Go Hoos!). It’s somewhat unfortunate especially for some of my friends where this was their dream school, but makes this my only realistic option.

So I’m currently a high school senior that got waitlisted from VT and I’m very doubtful that I’ll get off. My dream school is VT and I’m not giving up on it. My plan is to go to my community college over the summer and fall semesters to get the required courses on the roadmap for my major and apply to transfer for the spring semester. I’m fairly confident that I could get in by doing this, given that my major has such few spring transfers every year and most all of them get in. Any suggestions??

If you got accepted in-state for English/Creative Writing or History major, can you please share your stats?

Hi, I got accepted into the Honors College. I've seen a lot of posts about this and the general consensus is that it's pretty useless. I really don't think as an engineering major I want to be doing all the extra work for honors requirements to add to the stress, but for the benefits of early course registration, I still want to join. I don't really care about graduating with the Honors Diploma, so I just want to know if I can join, sign up for classes early, and then not do all the extra classes and work stuff. I still want to maintain a high GPA, so would they kick me out for not doing the honors requirements or would I still be able to do early course registration until I graduate? I do want to be able to focus on more than just academics, and with engineering as a major, I think doing honors college would add a lot to my plate. But I do want that early course registration lol. Pls let me know, thanks!

Getting labeled as out-of-state when I'm in-state for tuition?

I've lived in Virginia all of my life but my letter says I am out of state for tuition purposes. I submitted some tax documents, voter registration, drivers license, and my VA birth certificate in hopes it's fixed!

I was just wondering if this happened to anyone else? Or maybe what could have caused this mix up to happen? It's so weird lol
