China 1949-1960? Wtf? Yeah we helped the national forces cause we were trying to stop a bloodthirsty dictator from killing 50 million of his people.

Using TikTok to discuss geopolitical issues when that platform is fully under the purview and influence of the Chinese government doesn’t show great judgement.

The nationalists killed a shit ton of people too. And were also led by a dictator. There really wasn't going to be a government for the people even if they won.

Doesn't support the agenda she's trying to push, so she'll just leave the reason we got involved out.

Not saying that Mao is good, he was terrible, but Chiang kai-Shek wasn't much better. I suppose it boils down to the lesser of two evils?

The US could have never known that Mao's policies will lead to mass starvation, the US only cares about protecting business interests there since China has vast natural resources. Also the Kuomintang wasn't good either, they were at first aligned with Nazi Germany and fucked a lot of poor people over

Because we obviously knew of the future before it happened.

Let’s be real here, the United States intervened to stop the spread of communism because after Nazi Germany was defeated, the military industrial complex was not ready to chill out.

Saying that is like saying, “We went to war with Germany to stop Hitler from killing millions of people.” We didn’t find out about Hitler’s final solution until the Russians reported on the camps in Poland. We didn’t believe the report until we found the camps ourselves in Germany.

The consequences were that a US-supportrd leader then committed actual genocide.

America gets involved, and the worst possible outcome becomes true, as usual.

And we need to do it again. I'm almost always firmly against military intervention but what China is currently doing to their own people (Uyghurs, Hong Kong, mass surveillance on the entire population, among many other things) is too disgusting to ignore. They have the potential to eclipse Nazi Germany, mark my words. Let's not wait until too late and then say "we didn't think they'd go this far, whoops 🤷🏻‍♂️"
