It all started with a man shooting a judge's son because he opened his mother's door. The end result was Daniel's law in NJ that imposed a penalty on personal information websites when they did not honor a request to delete data for judges, law enforcement and others. But many refused to comply with the law.

Now a company that worked with complainants in NJ is suing because the founder believes privacy should be considered a First Amendment right rather than the right of companies to profit off of people's addresses and phone numbers.
