View submission: Should downvoters have to explain?
I don't think users should have to give a reason every time they downvote something, but I think that Reddit should show upvotes and downvotes as separate numbers. This way, user opinions of posts and comments are more accurately represented.

A long time ago this is how it used to be displayed. They started vote fuzzing things probably a decade ago.
From what I understand they switched and highly interacted with comments/posts aren't even an exact calculation of upvotes - downvotes but that they fuzzed them a bit.

That's the RES use to work but then I think something happened and it wasn't accurate anymore just like the upvotes but it use to be really nice. Seeing a comment with -24 is different than seeing 104 up 128 down. Makes it seem more nuanced
