A lot of gaming subreddits separate them because of "clutter", which sucks because memes makes many games more lively and friendly.

i think memes sooner or later devolve into a way to get unhelpful negativity into discussions without actually needing to defend your opinion because "it's just a meme/joke lol". i completely understand gaming subs not allowing memes or creating sub-subs for memes if you look at the super funny and constructive ""memes"" in the bigger subs like lol/poe/wow that are basically the new form of 24/7 crying about shit without any kind of constructive element.

I'd argue that having them seperate is the better way. The main sub can be for actual discussion and the other one can be for humour. It lets people decide what they want to see, instead of forcing them to scroll past 10 memes to get to 1 discussion post

No they absolutely dont. They ruin subs with low effort content that diminishes any actual meaningful discussion

If they did allow them we may end up with more subreddits like Batman Arkham.
