Summer. 185 day work year. Pension. More time with my family. I love 99% of my students. I love my subject material. My team is a work family and that helps so much.

185 days a year is my main motivator.

Yeah. This job allows me to take care of my kids, makes childcare a little less difficult. Good benefits. Predictable schedule, some creativity involved if I have the time and energy to be creative. I like working in education and volunteer too but the kids in the classroom are a captive audience and their parents wouldn’t take them to the events where I volunteer so I have more of an impact in a public school.

That's exactly my reasons. I love history, I love connecting it through out the eras and I like tying it to the present. Seeing students eyes as they connect the eras is a wholesome experience. It's not for everyone but I love history and I'm passionate about teaching about it. The time off is amazing, and my team is great as well, as the PLC lead teacher is awesome having a functional department.
I worked outside of education for a decade and I don't plan on returning, I feel if other teachers experienced a life outside of education they would be more prone to love and teach with a passion the material..
I get sad and excited about having a new batch of students each year.
