Just tried to go to Costco and every entrance is backed up. Even the back entrance that we typically use every weekend without issue. We couldn't get in the parking lot so we ended up leaving. Never had to do that before.
Is this related to the tariffs? Are people trying to stock up to save money? I'm trying to understand why it's like this.

It is the first weekend of the new in-warehouse savings, people may be overreacting about being snowed in for the next few days, Super Bowl next weekend.

WinCo was also a madhouse! I think it’s because of the threat of snow tomorrow, everyone’s getting it done today

It was the perfect storm today. Everyone just got paid, boycotts, might snow for the next week, football party prep.

It's all the new customers. Costco is one of the few remaining companies that aren't falling for Trump's bullshit.

Tacoma has outgrown this Costco. We need a second one.

I assumed the stores were packed more about potential price increases, football and weather I guess makes sense too

First. The Tacoma Costco is the most awkward one there is.
I’m wondering if it has to do with the high prices at normal grocery stores. I get the majority of all my food from Costco, save quite a bit… if I stay in budget lol I’m sure “tariff baby tariff” has something to do with it to.

FWIW I just got home a few hours ago from there, and while it was busy, it was fine. Just be prepared for people, park in the back, and dip around the sides of aisles. Checkout counters near the entrance are usually slower.

Sometimes I think that place just explodes for no reason. I went at the time I usually do to get gas a few weeks ago - I like the mid afternoon cause I don't have to wait quite as long in the line - and it was so absolutely jam packed that I also left. It was a random Tuesday or Wednesday

It was the same at Trader Joe’s in UP. It’s not that I haven’t seen it busy before, but the lines of cars looking for parking were insane.

I did specifically go fill up on gas and get a few things because I assumed there may be an increase in prices. But also, there is snow in the forecast for Monday.

I drove by the Costco in SoDo last night at about 6:30 and it was also overflowing. At the time I just figured it was the usual panic buying that happens when the Weather people even whisper the word snow. But I like the tariff guess. That 50 gallon tub of mayo can last all four years!
