Can someone explain to me like I’m 5 what’s happened/happening?
Edit: I know what place is, I’ve been defending bluey (little blue dog, near the British flag, modern Australian icon), I just wasn’t sure what was being covered and why?

The problem here is that the UKplace subreddit and discord are being modded by different people, and aren't communicating.
For instance the subreddit said Bingo was okay to go on the flag, the discord said it wasn't.
Then half the UnitedKingdom subreddit aren't even aware that ukplace exists and were 'trying to fix the flag', while the subreddit was adding it's name.
And then CasualUK is banning people who link to the discord.
Effectively, you have four different groups not listening to each other.

answer: "Marsey the Cat" is the mascot of malicious trolling subreddit r/drama's own website which they created after Reddit was forced to introduce stricter and stricter restrictions on the subreddit due to bad behaviour.
r/drama's website/forum was trying to co-ordinate the drawing of the "Marsey", an innocent-looking cute cat, with the hope to advertise their url and encourage people to visit. Their url is banned from Reddit so any comment including it will be deleted.
The controversy here was that they succeeded in creating the "Marsey", but Reddit admin accounts stepped in and began targeting the Marsey and overwriting the pixels. There's a video that shows one of Reddit's admins overiding the timer and changing a new pixel every second.
Not only that, but a bunch of the accounts that simply contributed to drawing the cat have been banned/shadowbanned and had their passwords changed so can no longer even be logged into.
Is it right or wrong that Reddit used mod powers to influence/direct r/place by erasing the logo of a troll site?
Big question. It was co-ordinate off-site, but so have many other of the graphics.

A April fools experiment was brought back from 2017. It's called r/place.
Basically it's an area where each user can place one pixel every five minutes, however, it's shown that an admin of reddit is possibly abusing their powers by bypassing the cooldown.
This is an issue because it seems unfair to other users who have to wait before each pixel is placed.

One of the admins is pixeling over the mascot for a subreddit that moved offsite after getting cracked down on for... something, i don't remember.

To go into more detail:
The sub linked is notorious for being a pain in the ass for Reddit admins for years, frequently abusing rules to harass other users and acting like a child whenever the admins finally tell them to stop, with perfectly crafted retorts like "Oh, so now it's against the rules to *ping* people, a feature that every forum has?"
They've since moved their entire community offsite to an offshoot Reddit clone, something that only *well-received* communities have done in the past >!/s!<.
There's a lot that could be said about their community, but it's not worth saying. Just don't engage with them, they live and breath drama, and there's significant overlap with them and this community (even at the highest levels!) despite how much both subreddits hate each other.
Anyways, this orange and white dog is supposedly their new mascot, which is why it's being scrutinized by Reddit admins.
