I wanted to inquire if anyone had any ideas on a hinge I should buy to make the Steam deck into a clamshell or if anyone has a 3D-Print that I can start off with. I really want to be able to play all my childhood 3DS games in all their glory, so say hell to my prototype SteamDS. I’m using some generic Dell panel for the top screen, an Anker power bank, and a generic USB-C hub.

I don't know why you guys are asking all this stuff from this device but it seems to me this is the most beloved gaming device in history

This makes me wanna figure out a way to use the steam deck like the WiiU, having the deck be the DS touch screen and my TV be the main pokemon screen.

With the shape of the deck, it even looks kinda like an OG DS! Super cool and creative, man.

I wonder if there's a way to make a modified version of the deckmate and have it so it has hinges and a top set of clips for the other screen

I use an extender cable from my dock to my deck and use the TV as "upper 3DS screen". Not really mobile tho 😅

It does make you wonder what Valve was thinking not making it dual screen natively. Just imagine if that was a flip screen that folded in for travel.

Honest question do you think you can play games like The World Ends with You on SD (where you have to use a stylus and do shapedrawing fast) or is it way out of its league? I have LCD

How do you do this? If I connect to a regular monitor what settings do I use to make the deck screen the bottom one and the monitor the top? This is so cool!! I was so annoyed I couldn't play Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow properly

Re: hinge, I'd use a "mechanism" mount and use the smart phone magnetic attachment, and put a mag safe sticker on the back of the monitor.

It won't hinge, but it will be secure and mobile

I wish there was an easier way to set up dual screen mode for the DS/3ds emulators on the steam deck.

I was helping my sister set hers up because she's not very tech savvy and bought a steam deck. I wanted her to be able to launch all of her emulated games I set up for her from the steam OS's library, so I did that via EmuDeck. Sadly, I had bad luck getting ps3, OG xbox and any DS or 3DS games to work properly. I could get DS/3ds games to work if I manual launched the emulator from desktop mode and set up the dual screen manually (every time), but launching any game from any of the supplied emudeck emulators via the steamOS library screen would result in a blank screen and/or crash.

I also wanted to try to get her switch games going on there, but I don't even know where to start for that since all the easy setups for it are basically gone. Emudeck wont supply an easy one click download / setup for any switch emulators anymore since their main downloads were taken down a while back, making setting that up a PITA. Especially since I don't know much about linux myself. Setting up all her other emulators was a little bit of a learning experience to begin with.

Oh wow. I was wondering how the deck might handle some 3ds games. I've been itching to play FE Awakening again.
