I totally understand how companies hire, fast and great talent is hard to come by and you don't have time to filter through potential high performing candidates. Hence you reply on ATS filters and use the necessary filters to make it less of a headache. I have been on other subs and I know one thing for sure, an HR is the most laziest and the most unfit employee of an org.

You get 1000s of applicants who lie on their resumes if you post it on fast moving recruitment marketplaces (LinkedIn, naukri etc) but you tend to find quality talent from places such as YC, peak11 talent network etc, because these are the dudes looking to thrive in a startup environment and those who reach out to internal teams to help them grow. (Most people don't reply)

Lemme tell you a quick story of how we found the most valuable employee in our company, they reached out to us 2 years back and she works with us till today. And she had the mentality that she will never grow as a person because she does not have the academic pedigree. But guess what she blows most IIM folks outa the park.

I have come across people who started a print on demand business and call themself start-up founders. They do not understand that their rodeo is not a startup but a business (BIG DIFFERENCE). I would not hire these folks if I raised a fat check, because they are not founders.

Real founders learn whatever it takes to keep the ball rolling and sometimes upskilling wise it is pretty slow because of either lack of funds for growth or bad execution.

But, I understand what you mean.
