Neighbors, I would appreciate any recommendations for one-stop shopping for home goods in or near the city?
I am boycotting Target which is where I usually go (explanation here: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2025/03/05/target-40-day-boycott-ohio-amazon-walmart-economic-blackouts/81582347007/[1]) and will not be switching to Walmart or Amazon. Also, I am not a member of Costco or Sam’s and don’t plan to join.
Thanks!

I think the closest to “one-stop shop” is going to be the grocery store. So Dierbergs/Schnucks/Whole Foods. And the pharmacies like others have said.
If you’re wanting to support local there are a bunch of separate small shops that have local/ethically made cleaning products, body/hygiene products, home decor, etc. And then for groceries Soulard or other local farmer’s markets especially as the weather starts to get better.

You should definitely consider getting a Costco membership. They have been loud and proud about not bending the knee to the Orange Oaf that currently occupies the White House.

Pan-Asia Market, Aldis, TJ’s are other options. As well as any local Asian market.

What type of 'home goods'?
When Walgreens and CVS have good sales/coupons, they are cheaper than almost anywhere else on things like laundry detergent, deodorant and toothpaste as long as you're not picky about brands. But you're going to have to wait and be strategic to get the good deals. Same with Dollar General. Download the apps, watch the sales and coupons.
But if you're really looking to boycott, which I understand and support, you may have to get this idea of 'one stop shopping' out of your head. Find local stores, or even just brands you like from other places, and buy those. You may have to pay shipping, or pay more for items you got at Target for half the price..
That's why I can't fully boycott Walmart or Amazon (never really did Target much). I've cut down significantly, but my main priority has to be the cost of the things I'm buying.

The Costco/Fresh Thyme has gotten me through the past month and a half fairly well.

I didn't want a Costco membership either and made a post just like this in a different sub and the FLOOD of JOIN COSTCO responses ultimately convinced me and I don't regret it. If you have a friend or neighbor who is a Costco member you could ask them to get things for you.
They have rugs, pillows, kitchen, auto motive, and gardening stuff.
Don't do Sam's. That's the same a as Walmart.

I put a stop to my shopping at the end of January, I stocked up on some stuff, but its been over a month now and I realize how little I really need. Time to use up all those sample size toothpastes from the dentist!
I just went to Dollar Tree today and I forgot how much they do have.

I am shopping at costco and Pan-Asia. Between the two, I can get almost everything I need.

If you use Instacart you can shop at Costco without having a membership.

Target didn’t kill their DEI policy, they just renamed it.
However - Fresh Thyme stays out of politics entirely, which I appreciate. I do as much shopping there as possible. There’s the one at the Foundry, and one at the corner of Lindbergh & Tesson Ferry on SoCo.

I would suggest joining Costco. If you don't like it, you can always cancel and they will refund your membership fee. You might like it and keep your membership.
I'm trying to avoid Amazon, Target and Walmart too, and it's hard because their whole value is tied to convenience. To avoid them is an inconvenience. Dollar Tree has some things but everything is so small now.

If I know I need a variety items (household, medicine, etc), I just go to Dierbergs or Schnucks. The majority of the time, that works out. When it doesn't off to Walgreens I go. I also keep a running inventory in my mind of what I can find where (down to the specific store) if I'm looking for a specific product so I'm not running around town looking for said product.

“Can I have a recommendation for a one stop shop, except for <all of the one stop shops>”
Good on you for following your values here. But it is going to cost you some convenience.

Ollie's might have some of the things you're looking for, but I don't know anything about their politics or policies so if anyone else does feel free to enlighten us all.

Costco, ACE hardware, grocery stores, boutique shops, farmers market. Costco or grocery stores would be the best one stop shops.

Not sure if this matters, but the large majority of amazon's profits come from AWS, not E-commerce. Boycott doesn't really affect them.

I’ve been mulling this over as well. Target used to be my favorite store though I don’t shop for unnecessities much anymore. So my Target trips have been few and far between. A lot of my bathroom essentials I get from Ulta or a local soap store. Household cleansers last me awhile so I’ve been getting those sporadically from the grocery store (Dierbergs). I need a few housewares items and am thinking I could go to Kohl’s (are they ok I’m not even sure?) I can’t think of any other department store that would replace Walmart or Target. It totally sucks and I think they know this.
