He is prepering for a presidential run. And trans people in sports is just not a winning issue for democrats. So he distances himself from it and throws them under the bus. Its cutthroat politics. Dont see him winning the primary anyway.

Oh I am so looking forward to him getting termed out and then crashing and burning in the primary.

Its insane seeing so called "moderates" and centrists first response to this be a casual "oh yeah....he's gearing up for a presidential run." Its fucking insane and incredibly shitty. As if its normal for a man to signal his goal for higher office by capitulating on a complicated issue to a right wing nazi troll. Even crazier seeing those kind of folks defend him hard.
You know....Gov. Walz hasn't felt the need to do this shit. If anything, he's been more thoughtful of the precarious situation and has been supportive as a barrier against Trump. Gov. Andy Beshear of motherfucking Kentucky vetoed anti-trans legislation and still won re-election. Gov. JB Pritzker in another show of defiance to those in his economic bracket, has remained outspoken and steadfast in not only supporting minorities but also resisting the urge to move right.
No coincidence that all 3 men are far more appealing, capable, and powerful candidates for The Presidency than a wishy washy fake ass car salesman with a sketchy past with women, a mixed to negative record in politics, a propensity for political backstabbing, a frankly immensely off-putting ambition to have presidential power, all wrapped up in a sleazy slimeball San Francisco elite scumbag. I'm sure Americans will love him because he's both a hollow neoliberal AND he happens to hate the minority groups its advantageous to hate.
I hope 1 of the 3 previously mentioned governors trounce him in primaries. Those men are leaders worth supporting and trusting. Full stop.

I feel like Newsom’s stance would be defensible if he was an overall strong candidate but his inability to solve the cost of living crisis or improve CA’s reputation will really hurt him a lot in any general election.

This is what I said about the interview.
“I revere sports, so the issue of fairness is completely legit,” Newsom said. “And I saw that — the last couple years, boy did I [see] how you guys were able to weaponize that issue at another level.”
Kirk challenged Newsom over his use of the word “weaponize,” and Newsom replaced it with “highlight.”
Regardless of what your opinion is on the topic, I can't stand this spineless kowtowing to *Kirk* of all people. Kirk who has absolutely ***weaponized*** the trans issue for Trump's and to his own advantage. I personally think moderating is what *caused* the democrats to lose considering the global push against incumbents was caused by disdain for the status quo. However, if you're going to moderate yourself, doing so by placating rightoids who will *never* vote blue is moronic.
Here's some quotes of Kirk alone ***weaponizing*** the trans issue:
"What does being trans even mean? Does it even — is that even a real thing? It means you need therapy"
“We must ban trans-affirming care — the entire country. Donald Trump needs to run on this issue.”
"feminism was never about advancing female rights. Feminism was about hating men. What better way to hate men than to take young boys and chop off their parts?"
“I do not believe transitioning your gender is right for people. I think it’s a lie and we should tell people that suicide rates are extremely high for people that transition. There’s 30,000 [people] in an open Facebook group who are regretting their transition and wish they could reverse. Transition regret is a huge thing. … You look at the transition regret and it will take your breath away at how many people wish they did not transition. What happens is they get a transition and they’re happy for like five years and it goes off a cliff completely. All the psychological data shows that.”
"So there's a direct connection to inflation and the trans issue... They're the same in this aspect - when you believe that men can become women, why wouldn't you also believe that you could print wealth? If you believe that someone can change their gender, why wouldn't you also believe that money is wealth?"

I'm just guessing he thinks this makes him look more "presidential" or whatever. Just glad he won't be president ever.

Of all the things Democrats could move right on they choose the stupidest ones possible. Why can't they shift right on guns of all things!

It’s worse in the context that he was platforming and paling around with the likes of Charlie Kirk.

Democrats don’t want Congress or the White House. They just want to raise money on anti-Trump ads. I hate that I have to vote for them.

Neoliberals don't really care about minorities, at least not in the US. They're bought and paid for just like thier conservative counterparts

Lol Newson is trying to get what by having on a bigot like Charlie Kirk? There goes his chance at even being a Social Liberal candidate.
Think Tanks and the DNC truly need to stop thinking anything beneficial comes from taking on bigoted talking points and platforming the Kirks of the world.

If democrats turn trans rights into another Palestine for 2028 they 100% deserve to lose.

No one will vote for him. The centrists already thought he was too woke, not the leftists will think he’s too bigoted. And somehow, they’d both have fair points.

Not that I don't have concerns with transgenders in sports but giving away any point to Charlie Kirk is just incredibly irresponsible.

Did he throw trans people under the bus? Or did he say he say he sees the issue as one of fairness, that trans women in women’s sports isn’t fair
