Hi. We get that a bunch of you want to discuss what is happening all over the US. However, maybe understandably, posts about the Republican government are taking up all the bandwidth - and they are mostly offtopic according to the rules of this subreddit.
So we are going to enforce this rule more:
All posts have to relate in some form to social democracy.
If you are not sure whether your post lives up to that, include a motivation about why social democrats should care about your post, either in the body or a comment, and it will almost likely not be removed.
However, all posts with certain keywords will be rerouted to this post.
Because we are about social democracy, and one more doompost about the GOP is not.
No, for two reasons. Firstly, we are not a big sub - there is a lot of big subs with lots of readers out there, which we are not. Secondly, we believe that to serve the mission of the sub, it is necessary to talk about Social Democratic politics, policies, organizing and so on.
Theoretically, we've had it for a long time - we are now enforcing it with some scripts.

Ok I'm starting to get nervous about AOC. So a friend of mine told me in a DM he's worried the justice department is planning on making an example out of AOC saying "Patel and Bondi already have their lackies on the case." He continued that for all we know, they might actually whack her like the N*zis did to SPD and KPD dissidents. How likely is that outcome? is Trump's DOJ actually going to try to make an example out of AOC?

I can see your reasons, but by doing this you are essentially banning all content about the most important event for social democracy in the past decade. Very few people will look at this mega thread beyond the first day.

Question. Does this mean I have to talk about all US-related posts here? For example, there is quite a lot of investigative journalism in South Korea going on an American oligarch named Annie Chen funding the fascist movement here. Does this end up here or can be made for a separate post?

This megathread on r/SocialDemocracy seems like a thoughtful way to keep the focus on social democratic topics while managing the flood of U.S. politics discussions. I can see why they’d want to enforce these rules to stay true to their mission, but it might be challenging for some users to adapt, especially if they’re used to broader political discussions. It’s interesting that they’re using scripts to enforce this—curious to see how it plays out long-term!

Could someone with more insight tell me who the Democratic party's new chair Ken Martin is? What are his political views and which faction of the party is he aligned with?

Is Donald Trump American version of Yoon Suk-Yoel?
I thought Trump and Yoon were different kind of beasts. I thought Trump was smarter and better than that fascist pig. I mean…Trump at least put America first and serve his voters. But after listening to his state of union, I have doubt whether this dude is any different from Yoon.
His state of union seems quite deranged. It is almost deranged as the ranting of Yoon during his trials. He tells too many lies and rant incoherently as blame everything on others. Also, it seems almost all his policy seems to serve foreign nations like China and Russia. Finally, removing an opposition politician because he made some noise seems to be the same.
[Yoon removed an opposition politician because heckling in early 2024 ]
If he does following stuffs too, Americans should be alarmed. Trump might be as deranged as Yoon.
[ “Yoon” checklist ]
If Trump starts to carry out above stuff, be ready for the worst. Trump might go for a fascist takeover.
