If it's even deleted at all, hours later, the posters don't get any repercussions for doing so.
That happened to me on r/politicalhumor. Straight up insults. The mods eventually deleted the thread, but hours later I saw the same user posting again.

/r/politicalhumor mods will delete anything that makes people think they're wrong about lefty dumbshit but god forbid you talk about killing Paul Ryan.
AwkwardTheTurtle straight up laughs about it because he knows Reddit is done.
