View submission: Washington should follow Minnesota’s lead and lower sales tax on all goods affected by tariffs

For individuals it's $198,631[1].

How does Minnesota justify that? It's not like California or New York. They aren't the center of a major industry that attracts a huge share of global talent. And I doubt they're pulling in many rich people who dream of living there - it's a flat prairie with awful weather, limited cultural significance, and one midsize city.

You clearly don't know anything about Minnesota. It's the only state to have all 4 ecological biomes link[1]. Also, if you have never heard of the 'twin cities' I'd be surprised. It's actually two cities, Minneapolis and Saint Paul. There's also Duluth and Rochester, two more major cities in the north and south.

Minnesota is second in the US in Fortune 500 companies per capita. It’s not poor.

“Limited cultural significance…” You’re an idiot.

We are actually a major center of industry for multiple wildly different industries. Healthcare, Medical devices, banking, retail, and food production are all HUGE here. We actually pull a lot of people here because of our significantly lower cost of living while still having an abundance of jobs in a variety of sectors. In Seattle, if you aren’t tech, you SOL. Ask recruiters which state is it the hardest to get people to move out of for a career, and it’s Minnesota.

Plus, calling our weather awful (especially compared to WA State) is laughable. We have 4 seasons, 3 of which are absolutely gorgeous. Winter only sucks for 2 months (January & February). We also aren’t a flat prairie. As someone else said, our biome is crazy different. The boundary waters are some of the most beautiful and untouched lands left in the country. The Twin Cities is situation at the confluence of the Minnesota and Mississippi rivers. We are literally the land of 10,000 lakes. Only the rural western edge of MN is “flat prairie”. And I grew up in central SD. I know what flat prairie is.

If MN has limited cultural significance, I’m not sure what you’d call Seattle. No cultural significance? Seems like a statement coming from someone that knows zero about MN.
