My brother (34m) is a weeb through and through. I(31F) am too but not at the same level. He has a low wage job he tolerates so he can go home and do hobbies, video games/anime/camping/maybe some art. He doesn't have any long term friends that he talks to often besides myself and my husband, but we live 2 hours away and have a baby, are probably going to make more so its getting harder to make time to hang out with him. We have another friend we see maybe twice a year. He also has OCD so it's hard to tell how much of his life is governed by it and how much is just his preference.
So my question is for all the nerds and weebs. What in your life makes you feel happy and fulfilled? Are your hobbies enough?

I was adopted at birth. My adopted parents are deceased. My only child is deceased. My husband is deceased. I have 3 cats and one dog. My deceased husband’s caregiver who was with him for several years before he died because I worked full time to support us, visits me once a month and I have several neighbors I interact with. I also have a friend who I have helped and interact with several times a month. I spend my days reading, visiting YouTube and Reddit. I try to eat healthy food and I do not drink alcohol. My beverage of choice is coffee. I exercise daily. My Vice is reading and I learned to read when I was 5. I now have the time to read as much as I want and I read books in every genre but my favorites are mysteries and science fiction. I have always been somewhat a loner so my life is very satisfying for me.

My uncle and I are your brother. My uncle was fine and I’m fine. I know it’s weird to have a hermit adjacent family member but you don’t have to worry about him unless he really looses it.

I'm pretty content. I do wish I'd switch up the video games for more gym time. However, I've always found that while at the gym, I just want to get home to play more video games.

I'm married, willingly child free and we have a lot of hobbies. My life is full and wonderful. We cosplay a lot at weeb conventions, as an example of our hobbies.
I don't think there is anything wrong with your friend. Unless he's voiced discontent and I recommend to do judging him for his singularity. Some people enjoy as small list of quality friends over quantity.

Not an answer, but going to point out that these aren't even close to the same category. Our family is undeniably nerds through our interests in science and what makes the world tick and intellectual stuff, and our disinterest in football and muscle cars. But we're not really interested in Japan-related stuff any more than any other form of entertainment or place in the world, so I can't give a legitimate answer. It's a far more specific thing.

I've learned a new word today. (The closest I had in my brain was "weeb*le*".)
I am so not the right person to answer this. I can't *stand* manga and anime and it's hard for me to see the appeal, though I know people adore it. But I did just buy a gift for a young family member who requested a graphic novel of this sort, so I hope he enjoys it. :D

Yes, for the most part.
Video games, comics, weeb stuff, etc...
It's what makes me happy and what calms my mind when my ADHD is being difficult.
