They trust him because he tells them it’s okay to be racist again. That it’s okay to be homophobic again. That it’s ok to be sexist again. They long for the days when the default mindset was that white men were the most important members of society and everyone else’s concerns/wellbeing/success was secondary. That’s the “great” that they want to make America again
