u/WinVistaButIts11 : I'm finalizing the suppliers for a few remaining components (ICs). Once this is established, I'll put up pricing. With that said, as I've mentioned elsewhere in the sub: keeping the units affordable for the maker community has been a priority for me throughout the last two years of design upgrades.

Hi u/Apprehensive_Talk_87 and u/Cute_Principle81, I've been sick for some time now, and previously very occupied with the firmware implementation + nCode development for Pockit, and traveling/meeting with manufacturers, as well as a bunch of my own project-unrelated pending tasks. I'll try to put up an update soon.

Completing this project, to bring it to fully launchable, has been a lot more demanding (time and physical effort) than I previously estimated. I'll certainly get it to the final stage, but trying to take it at a healthier pace now; don't want to overpromise anything.

Would love to contribute and purchase this. Really excited for many of it's use cases for me aside from tinkering.

No two Pockits are the same. There are one septillion two hundred sixty-eight sextillion two hundred forty-one quintillion eight hundred quadrillion block combos.

I know this sounds stupid, but what is the end goal? A modular phone? A learning kit?

It's a good, important question. Pockit aims to be a programmable, flexible device. The user would start with a Pockit Core (the motherboard, with a choice of processor depending on your desired computational power: Atmega, STM32, RaspberryPi). And then add in any combination of Blocks you want at any point, to set the customized features needed for your specific use-case.

So, the system can be used for learning, but equally well for applications. From the beginning, one of the central principles is that a project should be real-world deployable once you make it, and not just a bunch of wires and breadboards in a plastic lunch box.

What kind of applications are you thinking of?

Is this going to be an open source project where others can create more Pockit modules to integrate with what you've already made?

While there are nearly 30 different Blocks, I feel that community-made Blocks will be *vital* to make the ecosystem complete. I'm imagining a situation where, no matter which feature you need, "there is a Block for that".

I'm working on how to open up the methodology (and software) enough so that you can make your own Blocks but at the same time prevent some big manufacturer coming in to swoop up the concept and sell a variation as their own, before Pockit even makes it into people's hands.

I'm really glad to hear that! I love the concept that you have come up with and would love to help create new blocks.

Good to hear. Will be be putting together a beta-list in the coming month or two. I can keep you in mind. Which software do you use for PCB design?

I actually haven't had any experience doing PCB design yet due to still being in college for EE but I'd love the opportunity to learn. Is there an open source or free PCB design software that I could start using? Or what do you use?

I just came across this amazing project and tried to take a look towards it. The creator of this instrument is highly creative person. OI loved the Idea. Hats of Sir. Can u make a simplified tutorial for the same. Its a humble request for a student from India.

u/justintannerb: I use three softwares (EAGLE, Altium, and KiCAD). KiCAD is great and open-source; you can start with that. There should be tons of tutorials for it on YouTube.

u/SpoonMasterLikesYPY: It's always been alive (and growing); I'm sorry for my late replies here, as I've been extremely occupied with the circuit design and coding aspects. Check out the newest update I posted on the subreddit!
