View submission: What to do in February 2018

Deus Sex Machina, a performance group that does live-reading comedy erotica, is staging two shows at the Yunchengco Museum this February as part of the Fringe Festival.

**Deus Sex Machina 16: Hard for Art's Sake**

Friday, February 9 | 9 PM onwards

The first show is in its regular form: eight 10-minute plays, and the prompts are all art-themed (mileage may vary). Pretentious critics, commissions gone wrong, social media curation, haiku erotica, Lang Leav, THEATER!!!, an actual meta piece, and the cinematic masterpiece known as Tommy Wiseau's The Room.

**Deus Sex Machina Presents: My Dad's Imaginary Castrated Penis**

Friday, February 23 | 9PM onwards

The second show is a staged reading of DSM's first-ever full-length (heh) musical. Written by Palanca award-winner Dustin Celestino, and non-Palanca award-winners Marco Sumayao, Mark Belardo, and Mikers Litton, My Dad's Imaginary Castrated Penis ("My DIC Penis," for short) tells the heart-warming tale of Dante, a young boy who loses his father at an early age, and creates a new father figure in Pototoy, a living personification of his dad's genitals.

Along the way, they tackle the patriarchy, toxic masculinity, circumcision, and what it really means to be a man through songs like "His Dick," "Nobody Cares in Manila," and "The Birth of Ian Veneracion."

Please come. We'll make it worth your while.
