I was just reading another thread about different powersets that would have been interesting for Taylor as a character. Teacher's name came up, and after the discussion, people started to speculate about what a "good" version of Teacher would look like.

Someone mentioned that he would do well as a superpowered Dr. Yamada - a healer of Case 53's, capes with mental problems, and capes with broken powers, since his power-granting ability can help rein in the limitations of a given power. It's stated that he helped the Clairvoyant somehow, and he was able to give Doormaker the power of speech. So it's not hard to imagine how he could address other forms of power-induced dysfunction, such as Sveta's lack of control over her body. It's also notable that the mind-whammy part of his power could probably be used to gain loyalty and accommodation from highly hostile people, which might allow him to sway some of them to reintegrate into society. Or at least, to reintegrate well enough that they could be heroes or villains that follow the unwritten rules. (Imagine turning someone like Shatterbird into a reasonably restrained villain that fights Endbringers, rather than a monster.)

If you were good!Teacher and you had to select a single cape to reform in order to have the greatest possible impact, who would you pick and why?

(Feel free to describe both optimal picks and spicy takes. I wanna see all the possibilities here.)

Teacher's Shard seems to have a lot of control over him. I suspect he would have been pushed into abusing his power regardless.

Unless you had a Caldron version of Teacher. But then I suspect the Shard wouldn't be adaptable enough to function as well.

Putting these concerns aside, I'm sure there are countless ways to use this power for good. From what you mentioned, to similar ideas like helping stroke victims and other brain damage. Even running a think tank, and solving problems like Accord wanted to do.

Okay but imagine a Teacher that incentivizes heroes and rogues by just making them outright better than villains.

Like obviously vet the hell outta the guy, but then give him one or two powers on top of his existing set. Make heroes into these unassailable paragons by only selecting those most "worthy" of it.

Hell, snag Tattletale and Dinah, maybe even Coil if you can manipulate him, and get them working as your vetting team, checking every possible recruit.

So that someone actually does the point of your post. If I'm a good teacher I'm scooping up the entire Marchants group. They all have so much potential but are held back by their addictions. Use that to my advantage using the addictive quality of my own power.

Skidmark- Getting a rebrand and getting sent likely a Midwestern city. Place where the response time needs to be better just due to distance.- giving him an enhanced sense of acceleration and velocity.

Squealer- Send her to the guild so that she can work with dragon and the other tinkers. Hell with that mass production tinker PRT vans are going to be so much safer so transports are harder to break.- I'd give her a minor Tinker Power in fule. That would let her not only make her vehicles but what is needed to have them run.

Mush- most in need of this. Dude tried to fix his life anyway so this just gives him a chance- giving him understanding of durability and hardness of objects so he can more selectively and efficiently use his power to form armor.

Whirlygig- not alot known about her so not sure how hard it be to rebrand her- giving her the ability to look at an object and understand it's weight so she can modify her storm to pick it up accordingly.

Trainwreck- he likely wouldn't take any deal made since he works for coil.

Scrub- Kid needs to be a ward.- instance where I actually use the modifying powers part. Lower the power for finer control. Makes it easier for his pr and stops horrible accidents from happening if they get mastered.

and this is the part where you lost me. Thats not a good!Teacher at this point, its the letsbrainwashvillainsintobeinggood!Teacher, which is like... morally grey at best, and outright evil at worst.

Anyway if I could brainwash someone into being good I'd defenetly pick Leet. Give him a Teacher boost to make him actually good at what he does and at coming up with new tech. Then make him into a model hero.

Also other good pick is Coil. Teacherboost might even give him more timelines to work with, or some additional thinker power to be able to use them better. And then brainwashing him to make him into a good person gives us a a new great local PRT higher up Thomas Calvert turned local protectorate leader.

I missed the initial conversation, but doesn't Taylor * Teacher = Goddess?

Optimizing Teacher is probably just recruiting him into the Yangban.
