Yes! The Department of Education (DepEd) has been promoting the DEAR program since 2011, as part of the activities for National Reading Month. In Memorandum 244, s.2011[2] (direct link to PDF[3]), DepEd declared November of every year as National Reading Month.

Every Thursday a **DEAR journal** thread will be posted for you to log your personal reading activity. It will start at the end of March as a warm-up and to promote awareness of the activity, and will continue for the whole month of April. It will be repeated in November.
The DEAR journal is optional. There are many forms and implementations of DEAR. One is Free Voluntary Reading[6], or Reading For Fun: no write-ups or book reports required. You can still do a DEAR session by yourself without writing about it. However, some educators have found that the activity was more successful with a post-reading exercise. There are some examples in this article on Sustained Silent Reading[7] (SSR).

For this subreddit's DEAR activity, you can write about the book you are reading, the DEAR activity itself, or both.
Sample entry:
**Date:** 22 March 2018, Thursday

Some guide questions or prompts for what to write:
Time flies when you are reading, trust me. It will be over sooner than you think. If this is your first time doing something like this and are worried it will take too long, you can start with 10 minutes, then the next time 15, then work your way up to 20 or 30. If you want to continue reading past 30 minutes and you are able to do so, please carry on! Stop when you want to.
