Uwu is an emoticon depicting a cute face[1] which looks like (◡ ω ◡) or (ᵕ꒳ᵕ) among other forms. Also known as happy anime face[2], uwu is often used in Japanese and Korean online culture in response to something especially cute. The u characters represent eyes, while the w represents a mouth. A closely related emoticon is owo, which can more specifically show surprise and excitement. There are many variations of uwu and owo, including and OwO, UwU, and OwU, among others. These are not universally liked[3] so, like all emojis, be cautious about their use on Reddit. Post examples at r/uwu.
