Are there any other former or current NMT students that were not surprised at all that Wells uncovered corruption and was forced out because of it.

Funny that they didn’t mention the regent involved with the bank by name. Good old New Mexico reporting. Cuatro Bursum still scares the press.

Wow. That’s basic personal finance to not keep that much in a regular bank account. Terrible

Combine this scandal with the shitshow going on with the WNMU board of regents and I’m starting to think Michelle Lujan Grisham has some dirty dealings going on, since shes the one who appoints the regents.

I was a student there for a while and this was an ongoing thing that a few professors had divulged to me and some other students privately.
It actually goes a lot deeper than what's being reported here. The school actually has a major mental health issue. There were suicides and deaths by drug abuse and alcoholism almost every single semester, in a school of only about 1000 students nonetheless. During finals week it was common for students to start showing up at the ER of Socorro General with severe depression and suicidal tendencies.
Not to mention how many students I know who graduated from that school being wonderfully intelligent and having a great work ethic and were not able to find any gainful employment whatsoever for the sheer fact that the classes were so hard and unforgiving only a small percentage of students make it through with an F on their transcipt. Meanwhile they also gave a master's degree to a student from an extremely wealthy foreign family who was so incompetent that they couldn't even TA a 101 class and a PhD to a student who was known among the female student body as a serial date rapist.

I am a former student who had no idea any of this is going on.
But I haven't been in school or paid any attention to NMT in over 30 years.
