View submission: A Legal Researcher's Guide to Trump Anti-Trans Executive Orders

Question:

I have all my legal transition stuff sorted out correctly except for my passport. I just hadn’t gotten around to it. If I submit the appropriate paperwork ASAP could I get that corrected successfully still?

Yes you have minimum 60 days (would actually say min 30 accounting for processing) likely longer as these will likely be held in legal limbo for sometime but I'd say plan for the worst ie ASAP.

Under the new rules, if you surrender your Passport (if you have one, otherwise skip that step) and then apply anew, you can use your amended Birth Certificate with your corrected name and gender on it to get around the new rules. If you have a current Passport and a name change order, submitting that with a renewal now is your best bet.
