I do hope a lot of this is true. I do have a question though, should we be concerned about REAL ID affecting the ability to change gender markers on Driver’s Licenses?

I'm a trans guy who followed a link here that someone posted as a panic-defuser (and seriously, thank you to OP for posting this), so I hope it's okay for me to comment here.
With the caveat that I am not an expert on REAL ID, I believe that the main thing is that REAL ID needs to match your passport and/or social security card, birth certificate, et cetera. The passport is what they're using to verify identity. So if you already have a passport with the correct marker on it, I would expect that your REAL ID would match your passport.

The federal government could try issuing a regulation saying gender in REAL ID only means birth sex, but that's not going to fly with blue states or the courts without an act of Congress. I'm not worried.
