Oh I guess I read into it a little bit. Sorry.
I do think it is a little bit of “one-upping”. However I think the main reason is to communicate that they have been here long enough to see this area change through many many years(or just communicating that they weren’t part of that change lol) I wouldn’t take it negatively it’s just a side effect of change.
And I have firsthand experience with this. I am an 8th generation Montanan however I don’t flaunt that over people. It’s a cool fact that I can bring up if it comes up in a convo or just a fun fact.
