Does anyone know of any mutual aid groups that involve crafting or knitting? I'd love to join my interests with investing in my community, but not sure where to start!

Hi all!! Minneapolis Central Library has an arts and crafts club that meets every Sunday from 12-2. There is yarn available to make projects so feel free to come empty handed. They always accept donations for their “Crafting Warmly” program and there’s plenty of people to chat with. ☺️☺️ See you there!

Endorsing the other comments for the library crafting club. For a less formal route, there’s always the trees at Loring Park where people hang winter clothes for people who need them.

I don't know of any current groups, but I used to be a part of a queer craft group. So I know they exist.
And unless the sad sack that was telling you this is stupid, I put my actions where my mouth is. I still make blankets and hats for people. You just keep em with you when you go out and if you see someone cold, offer it to them. I've had plenty of people cry very real tears for being given something homemade and warm.
Food isn't everything. We also need protection from the elements.
I can't meet up for stitch groups much these days, but I do highly encourage, if you can't find something, make your own! If you build it, they will come.
The beauty of fiber arts is they are inherently a community art. And that is fucking beautiful.

This is a great idea. I would be down to join a knitting group like this.

Some yarn/fiber stores will periodically hold charity knit/crochet days, for example I know StevenBe does this. Just check various shops' websites for events.
Also check out Minnesota Knitter's Guild, they may have info on events or specific places to donate. I believe Backpack Project MN also accepts knitted hats, mittens, scarves, etc.

I don't knit, but I sew.
Would not mind doing an occasional stitch&b!tch for a good cause.
