Michigan imports more than $50b annually from Canada. A significant amount of that is auto related. 25% tariffs is a tax over $12b a year on Michigan companies. Buckle up folks. How soon do you think it will take for Michigan to get rocked?

Opening bell tomorrow. Small and medium auto parts suppliers will get hit hardest and fastest. I give it 2-3 weeks before first layoffs start happening.

They want Tesla to be the winner of the Franchise Wars (see: Demolition Man). President Musk will not be stopped
I'm not kidding. They are already taking out EV competition with the repeal of credits. Robber Barons aren't happy until they have it all
Edit: stupid autocorrect

Prices will go up. Tariffs will be blamed. Prices will never come back down. Corporations will announce record breaking profits with billions in bonus' for top executives.

The best part is that Whitmer will get blamed, and in 2 years we’ll end up with another conservative trifecta in the state government too. Man I hate being a pessimist but it’s hard to see anything positive happening anytime soon

He doesn’t fucking know or care. Maybe the people who voted for him can reflect upon what an asshole he is.

I think Trump wants Michigan to suffer and he’ll blame Gretchen Whitmer for the high unemployment

As someone who works in an automotive adjacent industry, I’m fucking terrified. I didn’t vote for this shit and I’m fuming that I now have to deal with the consequences of something out of my control.

Auto dealers will get rocked. Their parts department enjoy a 70-100% markup on warranty parts. Buy from manufacturer for $10, hand it to the tech, bill it for $20 right back to the manufacturer. If the tariff lasts, their laundering departments will get scaled back.

I live in Macomb. It’s demoralizing to see educated people still voting against themselves. Trump still manages to brainwash people that ARE educated or they simply don’t care about anybody or anything. Either way, it makes no sense to me.

Also, there are things you can do without protesting: Give $5/month to ACLU, local advocacy groups, LGBTQ or women’s shelters; go dark that day - no social media, no streaming shows, no internet, no buying anything.

I also heard that Honda and Toyota are shutting down plants in the US. That's several thousand jobs lost there.

That's roughly $3000 per household. Impact on individual households may be even more severe if this leads to job losses.

Time for Whitmer to take the gloves off and do something federally illegal... It's time to start a fucking fight.
